JPEG-XL image format is the latest advancement in image compression. Safari added support way back in 2024 but Chrome and Firefox didn't have it.
It's all changing in October 2026. Chrome and Firefox both are adding native JPEG-XL support which means faster, cheaper and higher quality images everywhere.
We at Gumlet decided to roll out this support to everyone including free plan users. Now you will see image bandwidth drop while also getting much better quality images.
